Each year up to 700,000 people come to the Rathausplatz film festival in Vienna in July and August. Visitors enjoy the unique atmosphere between Vienna City Hall and Burgtheater and indulge in music and international culinary delights. Large-scale events like these boast top programmes and modern cuisine as well as the latest technology and design to guarantee success. This year the Rathausplatz film festival that takes place from 30 June until 2 September 2007 in front of Vienna City Hall has several new features.
A new 20 metre × 11.5 metre large screen, a new sound equipment, and two new six storey stands make the popular and traditional summer event in Vienna even more innovative and modern for national and international guests.
The music programme that begins after sunset includes some of the latest opera, ballet, jazz, and world music productions. This year’s highlights include "Manon" featuring Anna Netrebko in a Vienna State Opera production, "Il Trovatore" from the 2006 Summer Festival on Lake Constance, and Puccini’s Tosca from the Arena de Verona. In addition, there are jazz brunches on Rathausplatz each Sunday from 12 noon.
